The Breadwinner by Nora Twomey
(Canada, Lussemburgo, Irlanda, 2017, 94’)
The Breadwinner is an animated film of 2017 directed by Nora Twomey. Based on the novel Under the burqa by Deborah Ellis.
The film tells the story of Paryana, 11, who grew up under the Taliban government in Afghanistan in 2001. When the father was unjustly arrested, Paryana disguises herself as a boy to help the family. With intrepid perseverance, he gives himself strength thanks to the stories told by his father, up to risking his own life to find out if he is still alive.
Exciting and fascinating, The Breadwinner is an exciting and timeless tale about the transcendental and thaumaturgical power of stories.

ANONIMO FRASTUONO
“Anonymous Frastuono. Imagining the landscape “is a two-day multimedia festival held within the Imaginaria festival, which offers projections, performances and discussions on the theme of the landscape, linking different languages.
Drawing on the phrase “anonymous frastuono” introduced by Calvino in his Marcovaldo (text that indicates with unspeakable narrative expertise the relationship between soundscape and city and between soundscape and writing) we want to propose a reflection on contemporaneity, on new and old languages in relation to the landscape (urban and otherwise) where signs and signifiers can give a key to understanding and listening to the territory.

25 AGOSTO 2018
Sala Conferenze c/o Castello Acquaviva D’Aragona di Conversano

h 18:00

  • Ideas for an awareness of the territory:
ESPLORATORI DI SUONI – Results of the sound ecology laboratory carried out by a group of children from the city of Conversano

h 18:45

  • Screening: ELEGIE DALL’INIZIO DEL MONDO – UOMINI E ALBERI (2013, 38′) by Francesco Dongiovanni.
The farmers. Their party. Pagan cults and Christian sanctity. Benign mother nature. The thrill of the ritual. Old and children. The faces of women. Every face a landscape. The body of men. The land of men. Stories out of history. The end of the world. Journey to the beginning of the world.

h 19:30

  • Screening: THE RIDDLE (20′) di Francesco Dongiovanni
The “mystery” of the title is contained in the drawings of the German Ernst Haeckel or in natural landscapes bathed in light? Nature, the unconscious creator of forms, becomes itself a work of art under the watchful eye of the camera.

h 20:00

  • Imagining the Landscape: interpretations and practices for a conscious use of the territory (round table)
Speakers: Vittorino Curci (Poet, Musician), Graziano Gala (Writer), Antonio Musci and Daniela Di Niso (Cineclub Canudo), Francesco Dongiovanni (Artist, Filmmaker), Giovanni Pugliese (Legambiente Project Manager), Lea Tenore (Architect).
