Imaginaria closes its 24th edition with the Cuban-born artist Ana Carla Maza. On Sunday 23 August, on the steps of the Cathedral Basilica in Conversano, she will perform with her trio, bringing the sounds and atmospheres of her homeland through her voice and cello.
With more than 400 concerts across 25 countries, Ana Carla Maza has captivated audiences at some of the world’s most prestigious venues: Jazz à Vienne, EFG London Jazz Festival, Blue Note Milano, Jazz à la Villette, Wiener Konzerthaus and many others — establishing herself as one of the most original and prolific voices on the current international scene.

ALAMAR
A brilliant and deeply personal album that brings together virtuosity, energy and maturity to reinterpret the Cuban musical tradition and open it to the world. With ALAMAR, Ana Carla Maza embodies the memory, excellence and sheer joy of living of Cuba’s new voice.
Launched with a concert at La Seine Musicale in Paris, followed by a performance at the legendary Olympia and a special collaboration with the Philharmonie de Paris and the Orchestre National d’Île-de-France. From 2026 to 2029, a tour will bring her music to Europe, Latin America, the United States and Asia.
Biography
The voice of two Americas
Born in Havana in 1995, in the Alamar neighbourhood inside the “Edificio de los Chilenos” — a symbolic site of Chilean exile after 1973 that housed more than 180 children and families — Ana Carla grew up in an environment deeply shaped by memory, resilience and music. The daughter of a Cuban mother and a Chilean father in exile, she carries a dual cultural heritage that she transforms into music of communication, courage and reconciliation.
Despite the shadows of exile, Ana Carla Maza radiates joy and generosity on stage, with a rare ability to transform the wounds of the past into musical beauty. Her music travels with cello and voice as guides across a journey between the two Americas: bolero, son cubano, guajira, bachata, tango, merengue, cumbia, afrobeat, bossa nova, salsa, funk and danzón.
In ALAMAR, she weaves together the echo of Violeta Parra with the power of Cuban masters Beny Moré, Bola de Nieve, Celina González and Omara Portuondo to create a musical language that is at once contemporary and universal.
