Jean Mallard
ILLUSTRATOR · CARTOONIST
Jean Mallard was born in France in 1997. A fan of Moebius comics and Miyazaki films, he immediately fell in love with drawing and decided to never part with it again. He enrolled at the École des Arts Décoratifs in Paris in 2015, where he studied comics, cartoons, screen printing, and printmaking. His favorite techniques are watercolor and gouache, which have accompanied him since childhood, and with which he works to create infinite worlds open to all. He creates his universe inspired by Russian folk painters, Indian miniatures, Japanese prints, and Douanier Rousseau. He moved to Naples in 2019, where he created a series of illustrations that will be featured in his very first exhibition #Via Miracoli. His drawings were selected at the Bologna Illustration Fair in 2018 and 2020 and at Angoulême in 2019. He received the Grand Award in Bologna in 2018.
