VERTEBRAE LOMBORUM
This series was born from the need to communicate something intimate through my means alone.
Animation, writing, music, voiceover, all managed by me, with my limitations, trying to involve the viewer in a personal glimpse.
Vertebrae thus develops into individual short films, each representing a part of the spine, in an exploration of myself and my way of confronting myself.
The lumbar vertebrae are the support. They represent the ability to support weights, jolts, changes of direction. Everything that happens is imprinted on them, leaving a mark. And, at the same time, they absorb the backlash for the entire spine. Here are the true roots of our body.
DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE

After a path through graphic design, illustration and music, Martino Prendini approaches animation in 2018 as a sum and at the same time a step forward. Motion and transformation have always been something present in his works, but unexpressed. Above all, he’s interested in the dynamic exchange between movement and music, where animation becomes akin to a dance. And in the concreteness and reality of the gesture, which animation can reinterpret making it the focus.
His works featured on BBC, as Staff pick of Vimeo, on Fantoshe Film Festival and more.
On 2020 he started working on his first short films, “Vertebrae” series, as a way to join together his interests in writing, musical composition and animation.
