Ziki

(Italy/2025/12’33)

Ziki is a Congolese boy living in a village with his mother. One day, while the two are playing, Ziki discovers a mysterious tunnel winding beneath the kitchen floor. Curious, he decides to venture in, but as he walks, he slips and falls to the bottom of the tunnel. As he travels through it, he discovers a world built on exploitation and war in his homeland.

Roberta Palmieri  trained at the Dams in Bologna and the Bottega Finzioni writing school, directed her first short film with Dieci secondi. As a screenwriter, she wrote Capitan Didier by Margherita Ferri, Special Mention at the Nastri D’Argento, and La ragazza ciclope by Matteo De Liberato, a project selected in 2023 by the Unbox Short Film Days of Alice nella città. She is currently working with Olga Sargenti on the direction of the animated short Ziki and on writing several screenplays. She was also selected for the Becoming Maestre mentoring program promoted by Netflix Italia in collaboration with the David di Donatello: the mockumentary Goodbye Pig was born from the program.

Born in Bologna, Olga Sargenti has always cultivated a passion for cinema. After graduating in cinema at DAMS, she honed her skills by specializing in screenwriting at the Griffith Academy of Cinema and Television in Rome. Determined and talented, Olga founded Sette E Mezzo Studio srl, an independent production company in Bologna, in 2020. Her commitment to the film industry has led to the creation of successful projects, including the animated short film “Ziki”, a finalist at the Fabrique du Cinema in 2022.
Not limited to production, Olga is also active in the academic world, participating in international panels such as the one at the conference “Screenwriting in cinema and media” at the University of Bologna in 2022.
Olga is currently involved in the production of “Let’s Talk About Sex”, a documentary that explores the story of Manuela Migliaccio, an athlete and model in a wheelchair, as well as in the making of “Ziki”. He is also working on a new personal short film that could mark his directorial debut.
