A sand animation short film exploring the aftermath of war in a world afflicted by severe drought and limited food resources. It follows innkeepers Pembe and Eflatun as they open their doors to a struggling group of refugee women and children. As the refugees settle in, a series of secrets begins to surface about how the couple came to manage this former prison, now turned inn.

Alix Bortoli, Dal Park

Alix Bortoli is a French director and artist based in Paris. After studying at Central Saint Martins and the Royal College of Art in London, she began developing her art by creating fashion and animation films. In 2018, she directed Mediterranea, created entirely on wood by engraving every frame. The Musée Georges Pompidou offered her the opportunity to join their permanent collection as an emerging talent. Dal Park is an internationally renowned animator and illustrator based in Berlin, and a graduate of the Royal College of Art.

Dal Park is an internationally known animation director and illustrator based in Berlin. She studied communication design at the University of Applied Sciences in Munich. It was during an internship as a production assistant that she became fascinated by the narrative possibilities of animation. In 2018 she graduated from the Royal College of Art. Her RCA films have been highly accoladed and screened at festivals across the world, including Tricky Women/ Tricky Realities, Encounters Film Festival, Bit Bang Festival, Animafest Zagreb, Moderna Museet Malmö, etc. Her work uses humour and odd characters to make sense of everyday life.
