We follow an 8 years old child’s daily life. From their eyes, we see their dad’s alcoholism. They are full of life, joyful and sometimes full of melancholy. The protagonist only lives their normal life. They like riding bikes, reading comic books while dreaming of a fantasy world. They love their dad, he’s often off, but he’s full of tenderness. When they get stung by a wasp, he takes care of their booboos. Papa Bouteille is a poetic film. It takes the spectator along in the character’s own intimacy.

When I started to study animation, I grew fond of the 2D technique. I always had a sensibility for minimalism when it came to art. 2D had a way of showing character, background and animating then that let the place to show emotions. What matters, let’s say. However I choose 3D. It is such an interesting technique, a tool yet to discover its full potential. I studied for 5 years at l’Ecole des Nouvelles Images, at Avignon, France. I learned to create realistic objects, realistic lighting, and to render them … And then, I decided to dissect every aspect that I learned to recreate a style that I had in my own drawings. Papa Bouteille is inspired by a personal story. I chose to tell it as true as emotions can remember.
Éléonore Deprun
Telling stories has always fascinated me, whether through drawing or writing. After hesitating with literature studies, I finally chose to study animation moviemaking, as it seemed like the perfect synthesis of my love for literature and arts. I discovered a malleable medium in animation, particularly through 3D, which I wish to explore further in the future to experience new adventures.
Lucie Carraz
After obtaining a BAC S in 2018 at the Frédéric Mistral high school in Avignon, I passed the entrance exam at “Ecole des Nouvelles Images”. It was in high school that I became aware of the profession of 3D generalist. Indeed, I have always liked to draw, paint, sculpt and watch a lot of animated films. At the age of 9, I fell in love with the Dreamworks movie “How to train your dragon”. Growing up, I enjoyed the textures, animation, sets and music present in these films. It was then quite naturally that I went to a 3D school, where I got my master’s degree after 5 years of studies and the diploma film “Papa Bouteille”.
Pierre Etienne Mazet
I was only 15 when I fell in love with animated film when I discovered Supinfocom, directed at the time by Julien Deparis. I realized then that it was possible to make a career out of it, and I gave it my all. After a successful Bac ES at the Notre Dame D’orveau boarding school, I tried to get into Supinfocom, renamed Mopa, but without success. That’s when I heard about ENSI, freshly created by Julien, I took the competitive entrance exam and was admitted in 2018.
Lalita Bruguiere
I was 14 years old when I got my very first graphic tablet, I began to learn and practice digital drawing and some short 2D animations with my original characters. I was watched for a long period many animated clips and video games cinematics. I was fascinated by all the movements, especially when it was about rhythm and choreography. And that’s how my curiosity and my will to learn about animation began.
Clément Bretou
After studying 3D in the south of France ( ESMA-ENSI ) and being part of the movie Papa Bouteille, Clément began his career as a 3D animator.
