IMAGINARIA EXHIBITION

The Imaginaria festival is pleased to host a collective of Italian illustrators of clear national and international fame thanks to the collaboration with the prestigious Caracol Gallery in Turin and the Illustration.it project curated by Federico Cano Correa.

GALLERIA CARACOL x IMAGINARIA FESTIVAL
After the first experience in 2023, the collaboration between Galleria Caracol (Turin) and Imaginaria Festival di Animazione di Conversano is renewed.
A new collective exhibition has been curated for the 2024 edition with some of the best talents of Italian illustration as protagonists: Andrea Calisi, Giulia Pastorino, Fabio Consoli, Antonio Pronostico, Piero Macola, Daniela Tieni and Francesco Chiacchio. Each of them will bring 10 of their illustrations, thus creating an exhibition with 70 tables on display.
The illustrations on display can be purchased both on site, with a rich selection destined for the shop, and online on the website caracolarte.it, they are fine art prints on 210 gram museum paper, each print has the digital signature of the author and is accompanied by a quality certificate.
ANDREA CALISI
In his work Calisi uses different techniques that vary from painting, to pencil to digital processing. He uses palettes with many colors, he loves natural landscapes and harmonious compositions where man and nature become one. His works have been exhibited in Italy and abroad, at Umbria Jazz, Expo Cartoon in Rome, Sano Museum in Mishima, Daimaru Museum in Kyoto.
He has worked for important fashion studios and for various publishing houses, newspapers and institutions including: La Repubblica, WWF, Regione Lazio, Universal Music, Einaudi, Rizzoli, La Nave di Teseo, Linus. He lives and works in Rome.
GIULIA PASTORINO
Giulia Pastorino studied at the ISIA in Urbino and lives and works in Genoa. Her best friends are oil pastels, cream-colored backgrounds and warm colors. In 2016 and 2022 she was among the authors selected by the Bologna Children’s Book Fair. In 2024 she was among the youngest artists present at the 41st edition of the Children’s Illustration Exhibition “Le immagini della fantasia” in Sarmede. She has illustrated several albums and collaborates regularly with publishing houses such as Corraini, Terre di Mezzo, Edizioni Clichy.
FABIO CONSOLI
Fabio Consoli is an established Sicilian illustrator, he works both in digital technique and with acrylic. A free spirit, he loves long bicycle trips along which he gathers inspiration that he then transfers to his sketchbooks and subsequent works. Over the years he has worked for: National Geographic, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, NPR, Boston Globe, Pentagram, Red Valentino, Apple Japan, American Airlines, Feltrinelli. His works have been selected by American Illustration, Society of Illustrators and 3×3 Mag.
Fabio lives and works in Acitrezza, Sicily.
ANTONIO PRONOSTICO
Antonio Pronostico, born in Potenza in 1987, studied in Florence and has been living and working in Rome for several years. The technique he uses to express himself is that of pencils and wax crayons. Vibrant colors, dynamic images or more classic, it doesn’t matter, the strength of Pronostico’s work arrives straight and decisively to the eyes of the beholder. In recent years he has established himself as one of the most interesting and sought-after authors on the Italian scene.
Antonio Pronostico has worked with clients such as: The New Yorker (USA), Laterza, Sellerio, Gribaudo, Sperling & Kupfer, Mondadori, Alegre, Il Saggiatore, Fandango Coconino Press, la Repubblica, La Stampa, Interni, L’Espresso, Jacobin Italia, Internazionale, Book Pride, Bastille magazine, Glénat, America (FR). He has two comics published with Coconino Press, Sniff from 2019 (Micheluzzi Award in 2020 at Comicon and Boscarato Award at the Treviso Comic Book Festival) and Tango from 2021, both created together with his friend, director and screenwriter Fulvio Risuleo.
DANIELA TIENI
Daniela Tieni was born in Rome in 1982. She graduated in Scenography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome; she subsequently obtained a Master in Art Therapy at the University of Roma Tre. She currently works as a freelance illustrator for Italian and foreign magazines and publishing houses. She was selected for the catalog and exhibition at the international competition Ilustrarte for the biennial of 2016, 2012, 2014, 2009; at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair 2019, 2017 and 2012 and at the American competition 3X3 Magazine No.13. Since 2017 she has collaborated as a teacher with Idea Academy at the Master in Illustration. Daniela lives and works in Rome.

PIERO MACOLA
Piero (Venice, 1976) is an illustrator and cartoonist, born and raised in Venice in 2002, after studying in Brussels he moved permanently to Paris. Piero’s work is immediately recognizable and of rare beauty, thanks to a unique technical mastery of the pencil.
His work gives life to realistic and surprisingly detailed scenarios, while transmitting a concise narrative message. Since 2014 he has collaborated with the publisher Futuropolis (Gallimmird label), for which he created the graphic novels Kérosène and Le Tirailleur, as well as participating in several collective volumes. In Italy Coconino Press has published his graphic novels Fuori bordo and Sola andata e Lagune, released in the fall of 2023.

FRANCESCO CHIACCHIO
Francesco Chiacchio was born in Florence in 1981. He has illustrated records, posters and books, collaborating with various publishing houses, including Orecchio Acerbo, Topipittori, Rizzoli Lizard and Salani. From 2010 to 2012 he illustrated the cultural pages of La Repubblica di Firenze. In 2021 he was selected to participate in Ilustrarte, the International Biennial of Illustration for Children, and in 2022 he was invited to exhibit at the Illustri festival, in the Basilica Palladiana in Vicenza. From 2021 to 2022 he drew cartoons for the weekly magazine L’Essenziale. Francesco loves cultivating words in orthography, watering them with different signs, watching them grow from afar and capturing them in a drawing. Francesco lives and works in Barcelona.

VALENTINA TAMBURRANO
Valentina Tamburrano was born in Puglia in 1992, and graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bari, majoring in graphics.
Her education is strongly influenced by traditional art, particularly by medieval and oriental iconic art, as well as by modern painters and artists such as O. Redon, Leonora Carrigton and C.G.Jung with his illustrations of ‘The Red Book’.
Her works are born as a study and exploration of the symbolic language linked to the world of art through the tools of the unconscious and dreams.
She has created commissioned illustrations for “Oracoli dello Zodiaco”, Vivida Books (2024), ”Oracolo del Cielo”, Pensa Editore (2024) and “Circle of Farm Life” for the American publishing house Ozark Hollow Press (2024).
