ARTISTIC RESIDENCY AT IMAGINARIA
The European Festivals Fund for Emerging Artists – EFFEA is an initiative of the European Festivals Association that offers emerging artists a platform to develop their career on an international level through festivals.
The results of the European Festivals Fund for Emerging Artists – EFFEA are now known. EFFEA’s first round of grants will support 142 festivals and 43 artists (individuals, duos, companies, ensembles or groups) from 16 different disciplines and 34 countries. The Imaginaria festival is pleased to announce that its candidacy for the European EFFEA call has been accepted and, thanks to this initiative, a young Portuguese artist from the world of animation will be given the opportunity to participate in the next edition of the festival with an artistic residency.

Mariana Guerreiro Ferreira
It’s Awkward Mariana is the creative brand of Mariana Ferreira, a portuguese multi-disciplinary creative based in Lisbon, currently working as a freelance animator and graphic designer.
Her interest in animation grew when she was doing her BA in design. The project Lessons in the Kitchen started when she was living in erasmus in Belgium, where she took her first animation class.
After working an year in design at Mccann Lisbon, she did a MA in Animation in Barcelona. There she directed and animated her first stop motion short film for the final project, Pobre Antonio.
She is interested in documenting and telling stories about people and the struggles they encounter in their everyday life. Her characters try to reflect the quirkiness that make each person special and different.
