The contest is called “Payday” and Chantal is in a hurry because she clearly has a lot to say on the subject. For once, she ticks all the boxes: director, woman… She is ready to take notes, draw… But very soon, her everyday life bursts back in.

Chantal Peten lives in Brussels in a cozy house with a beautiful lilac tree at the back of her small garden. When she began her illustration studies at ARBA, she imagined working in animation. But then she discovered children’s books and ended up publishing around twenty of them. In 2015, she trained in animation at RHoK in Brussels. Biting the Hand That Feeds You (2025) is her second short film, selected for Annecy, LIAF, and Stuttgart.
