The Glitch (Tomasz Jakub Opałka)
(Poland, 2024, 3’17)
By creating this short animated movie, we wanted to show that modern classical music belongs not only to the audio sphere, but also to the visual sphere, in which it can create extraordinary images. In close cooperation with creators of several fields of art, we were able to create this short animated movie. It all began with Tomasz J. Opałka’s exceptional piece “The Glitch”.
STORY:
A cellist and a pianist, each poised with their instruments. The camera draws closer to the musicians just before they begin to play. They exchange a glance, signaling their readiness to begin.
With the first notes, the musicians disappear, and the visual world transforms, beginning an animated journey—a visual story born in response to the music itself. Shapes and movements explode on screen as we witness a new universe emerging from chaos. The visuals evolve alongside the melody, telling the unique story.
Classical music has the power to create extraordinary images in our minds and stirs our imagination in ways that words cannot express. This video is a fusion of classical music and mesmerizing animation.
