Special prize to the Italian artist Ursula Ferrara with the presentation of the complete retrospective.
Introduced by Elena Marcheschi (Department of Civilization and Forms of Knowledge – University of Pisa)

Ursula Ferrara is an internationally recognized artist among the most important exponents of Italian animation cinema. Author of eight short films between 1986 and 2006, small in length but large in terms of elaboration and complexity, she then ventured into digital productions and animated interventions for various film productions. She is self-taught, a weaver of images in long, patient and finely crafted work processes: her loving, acute and ironic look at life reveals, in a poetic and fantastic transposition that also compares with today, the nature of a avant-garde artist in the ancient manner. A cinema that convenes creative paths and genealogies, pictorial echoes, existential imaginaries recreated in metamorphoses of signs, shapes and colors that follow each other. Today she dedicates herself to ultra-large format photography, building her own “cameras”. The book written by Elena Marcheschi, the first Italian monograph dedicated to this artist, retraces the itinerary of her experimental production with analyzes and reflections that underline her original and unique character and that place her pioneering research at the crossroads of figurative, cultural and theorists.

Complete retrospective: Lucidi folli (1986), Congiuntivo futuro (1988), Amore asimmetrico (1990), Come persone (1995), Quasi niente (1997), Cinque stanze (1999), La partita (2002), News (2006). Estratti da alcuni lungometraggi: Chiocce (L’amore e basta di Stefano Consiglio, 2009), La Corsa (Pivano Blues – Sulla strada di Nanda di Teresa Merchesi, 2011), Laura Betti e P.P.Pasolini (La passione di Laura di Paolo Petrucci, 2011).
