Skin Colour (Il colore della pelle)

Eight-year-old Maya wants to draw the best portrait in art class, but when she realizes that the shade the teacher calls “skin color” doesn’t match her own, she feels torn between her truth and her desire to please the teacher and excel. Through her journey, Maya will discover the beauty in the different shades and colours that exist in the world.

Liya Daniel Elbashan is a Sam Spiegel Film School graduate. Directed the short films “The Witches We Were” (screened at the Jerusalem Women’s Film Festival and Olhares do Mediterrâneo Festival 2023), and “Frames for Michael” (received an honorable mention at the Haifa Film Festival’s Pitching for Graduation Films and won the directing, acting, and cinematography awards at the Sam Spiegel Forum 2024). Screenwriter, director, and film teacher.
Gilad Pfeffer is an animation directoer and art teacher. He believes in the power of films to make a positive change in the world.
