Mog’s Christmas
Robin Shaw
Robin Shaw is an award-winning animator and illustrator known for his beautifully lyrical hand-drawn work. As well as 15 years as a director of animated commercials he worked closely with children’s author and illustrator Raymond Briggs on a number of film and illustration projects. He was part of the directing team behind the hit Channel 4 TV special ‘The Snowman and The Snowdog’, and was the natural choice for art director on ‘Ethel & Ernest’, the feature-length adaptation of Briggs’ graphic novel telling the story of his parents’ lives together. 2016 saw his debut as a director on an animated feature film with ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’, adapted from the children’s classic by Michael Rosen and Helen Oxenbury. Christmas 2019 saw the premiere of ‘The Tiger Who Came to Tea’ on Channel 4. The half-hour special was directed by Shaw and enjoyed enormous critical and audience acclaim, going on to win an International Emmy and the Special Jury Prize at Annecy. Shaw’s new film, ‘Mog’s Christmas’, adapted from Judith Kerr’s book, will be released Christmas 2023 and he is in development adapting Benji Davies’ Storm Whale books for the screen. Alongside his film work, Shaw has created a series of commemorative coins for the Royal Mint, a 40th Anniversary Christmas ident for Channel 4 and works as an illustrator with his own picture book ‘Me and My Dad’ published by Hodder Children’s in 2017.
