Mara Cerri
Mara Cerri was born in Pesaro in 1978 and attended the “Scuola del Libro” of Urbino.
Among the illustrated books that she published with the Orecchio Acerbo publishing house: Via Curiel 8 and A una stella cadente, of which she is also the author of the texts, The swimmer by Paolo Cognetti, The panther under the bed by Andrea Bajani, E non mi stop di Albino Pierro, Occhi di vetro by the Mancuso Brothers for Else Edizioni and The beach at night by Elena Ferrante for E / O edizioni. He drew one of the comic stories for Cinque by Giovanni Truppi, ed. Coconino. For Einaudi he illustrated the Millennium entitled The books of Oz, translated and narrated by Chiara Lagani.
He collaborated with the Fanny & Alexander company, creating the designs for the OZ children’s theater show which debuted at Rome Europa Festival 2019.
The animated short Via Curiel 8, made in collaboration with Magda Guidi, in 2011 won the Corti Italia section of the Torino Film Festival. Also with Magda Guidi he worked in 2017 on the animated clips for the documentary Ferrante Fever by Giacomo Durzi (Malìa Film) and with Simone Massi for the documentary film Samouni Road by Stefano Savona.
In 2021 Sogni al campo was released, the new animated short by the artistic duo Cerri and Guidi, produced by Miyu Production and Withstand film.
For the cinema he designed the poster for Alice Rohrwacher’s Lazzaro felice and A sud di Pavese by Matteo Bellizzi.
In 2022 he drew the comic book “L’Amica Geniale” based on the novel of the same name by Elena Ferrante in collaboration with Chiara Lagani.
The festival showcases some of the original plates from the latest work “L’amica Geniale“.
