Imaginaria Awards 2023

Main Competition - International Short Film

The international jury composed by Pascal Vimenet (France), Matilda Tavelli (Swiss), Georges Sifianos (Greece), Andrijana Ruzic (Serbia) decreed the following winners of the 21st edition of the Imaginaria festival.

Best Animated Short Film

ELECTRA
Daria Kashcheeva (Czech Republic, France, Slovakia, 2023, 26’33)

The jury appreciated masterful treatment of cinematographic language, mixing live action and stop motion animation and capacity to translate, with bitter humor, within contemporary aesthetic the actual social stereotypes and the Grand Prix, goes to Electra by Daria Kashcheeva.

The Graduation Short Film and Music Video Jury composed by Marino Neri, Alessandro Baronciani and Vincenzo Beschi decreed the following winners:

FURRIE
Lucie Grannec (France, 2022, 8’36)

“Furrie is an idea, even before a short film, which finds its only means of communication in animation. It would not have been possible to create Furrie with other mediums. Everything is important: from the disturbing content to its realization. Everything is beautiful: from the aesthetics to the background noise of old PC hard drives. He speaks to the new generation by citing the past and does so with disenchantment and provocation.”

For the environmental theme treated with a sense of humour, for the drawing technique and for the engaging music, the winner of the Children’s short film competition of Imaginaria 2023 is Pig by Jorn Leeuwerink.
