Festival Animation Network

The Imaginaria festival participated, as a partner, in the call for proposals “European Film Festival Networks” of the MEDIA Creative Europe programme, where the FAN – Festivals Animation Network project was successfully approved, led and promoted by the Portuguese festival Cinanima.

The main objectives of this network are the creation of a collaborative model between the partner festivals, which aims to create and diversify new audiences, thus creating an exchange of good practices and experiences between its members and dynamically contributing to the dissemination of European animation cinema around the world; the promotion of author animation, highlighting young talent; diversification and expansion of audiences; film production in schools and other locations; promotion of analysis, study and reflection, as well as the creation of debates, sharing of ideas and practices between animation film trainers. Environmental sustainability, inclusion, non-discrimination, diversity and representativeness are transversal values in the implementation of the entire project.

With “To watch to expand” as its main motto, this network comprises five European partner festivals, from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean, as well as associated European and non-European festivals:

  • MIAF – Melbourne International Animation Festival (Melbourne, Australia);

  • SIFFCY – Smile International Film Festival for Children and Youth (New Delhi, India).

With the aim of bringing European animation cinema to everyone, FAN will also promote workshops, symposiums, activities within the educational programme, always based on environmental sustainability and collaborative practices between festivals.
